Training Practice
Find out more about what it means to be a training practice
We are a committed GP Teaching Practice and as such have Specialist Trainee GPs attached to the practice as part of their training and experience. You may be offered an appointment to see one of them whilst they are working with us. They will see patients in surgery and will undertake home visits.
These are qualified Doctors in various stages of their post graduate education, and those who specifically want to work/train as a GP in Primary Care. The Specialist Trainees work at the Practice and, depending on their stage of post graduate education will be with us for a fixed term of either 4 months or 1 year. They are fully registered with the General Medical Council and are under the supervision of one of the Practice's GP Trainers Dr R Walkington.
Northgate Medical Practice is committed to supporting and training these Doctors to become safe, caring and enthusiastic General Practitioners of the future.
We are also committed to assist with the Training of Paramedic Practitioner's, these are more skilled Paramedics who wish to extend their roles out in the community. We are also involved in the training of future Nurses.
