NEWSLETTER
Autumn 2025

Did you know that measles quickly spreads, that one in five young people who catch it need hospital care and on rare occasions it can sadly be fatal? But with two doses of the mumps, measles and rubella vaccination, also known as MMR, measles is preventable.

MMR is safe, effective, free on the NHS and it’s never too late to catch your child up through your GP practice.  If you are unsure if your child is up to date with their MMR vaccines, check their Red Book health record, or contact the practice.

Getting children vaccinated also means you are helping protect others who can’t have the vaccine. This includes infants under one year, and people with weakened immune systems, who are at greater risk of serious illness and complications from measles. Want trusted information about vaccinations? Go to the NHS website or check with the practice.

Important Information about other vaccinations

Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent many infectious diseases. The Northgate Medical Practice provides a wide range of vaccinations. If you are eligible for a particular vaccination you may be contacted by the Practice and invited to make an appointment.  You can find a complete list of vaccination types and the ages at which they are given on the NHS website
